LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES

History proves that innovation is the answer, over and over again. The dawn of computers and the Internet revitalized manufacturing productivity and launched the modern services sector. Packing larger computing power into ever-smaller desktops and handheld devices of every business owner sparked an entrepreneurial era unlike any other in history. The Internet connected the world—first through email, then through social media. Together, these inventions revolutionized B2C commerce by putting products in the hands of consumers through the click of a mouse. Yet, the B2B marketplace has not fully harnessed what technology makes possible today.

The digitization of the current USD 140 trillion B2B marketplace will create a new Digital Economy services market of e-Commerce, e-Finance, and e-Insurance estimated to be USD 6 trillion annually by 2025 with the following benefits:

  • Decrease trade costs by USD 2.7 trillion
  • Increase trade by USD 7.9 trillion
  • Create nearly 150 million jobs worldwide
  • Deliver sustained and balanced economic growth for all nations

WLCD’s Digital Transformation of B2B MARKETPLACE

BACK

THE DIGITAL ECONOMY

What is the Digital Economy? It is an economy where the real economy participants access Digital Economy services such as e-Commerce, e-Finance, e-Insurance, and e-Logistics through their digital devices connected to the Internet.  These services improve the business efficiency and increase transparency of all trade transactions in the global value chains.

To realize the Digital Economy, we must focus on digitizing trade transactions of those things that are tangible and for which we have a real and recurring need: the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the materials we use to build our cities.

The challenge here is that Digital Economy requires concurrent digitization of all the four pillars of trade – commerce, finance, insurance, and logistics; with logistics being the weakest link due to its fragmentation and manual operations.

Experts agree that the solution to this problem is the creation of a global Digital Economy Platform (DEP) that horizontally integrates all the vertical systems of commerce, finance, insurance, and logistics to successfully digitize all the pillars of trade.

A unique aspect of the Digital Economy is that its information is based on Ultimate Data Quality (UDQ), where the trade transactions data is dynamically and continuously validated by all the participants involved, so that the data is tamper proof and any analytics based on it inspires confidence to trigger action in real life. Such UDQ-based information provides transparency to the service providers to offer innovative Digital Economy services such as e-Commerce, e-Finance, e-Insurance, and e-Logistics with confidence. In turn, the real economy participants can use the trade efficiency ratings of the participants to buy products or services from sellers with high degree of confidence as they are based on UDQ.

All organizations, small or large, can use these Digital Economy services free of cost to compete effectively to grow trade within and outside the nation.

GLOBAL CHALLENGES

Several attempts have been made to deploy a global solution that will resolve our trade inefficiencies and boost global trade.  However, they have failed to address the core challenges that prevent global market acceptance. Although the problems facing our global economy are well known, the technology industry has not been able to devise a global solution yet. In spite of the prowess of the technology sector and the clear importance of efficient trade, the emergence of a viable, comprehensive global solution remains elusive due to the following primary challenges:

Geopolitical & Monopolistic Concerns

Since trade is of national security importance to any one nation, a global solution must offset geopolitical and monopolistic concerns regarding its ownership, governance, deployment, and use. Until now, the required innovation to offset these concerns has not been offered by any government or private sector firm.

Privacy & Data Security Concerns

Since information is the currency of the future, any global solution must safeguard the security and privacy of the underlying trade data in order for the trade participants to willingly participate in a global solution.  Until now, there has not been a globally accepted solution that provides a comprehensive and systematic approach to securing data security and privacy.

Exclusionary Business Models

The required solution must be affordable in order to ensure the participation of all organizations—large, medium, or small—since supply chains require the exchange of the necessary information among all trade parties in order for trade to be conducted efficiently and securely. However, current technology providers operate exclusionary business models that focus on providing expensive vertical legacy systems to large corporations, and thereby exclusionary to the SME sector.

BACK

GLOBAL SOLUTION

The global challenges previously discussed make it abundantly clear that a new, comprehensive solution is desperately needed. The solution used by the WLCD to address these challenges is unique. The WLCD has been entrusted by the World Logistics Council (WLC) to develop the technological solution, a Digital Economy Platform called Multi-Dimensional Digital Economy Application System (MDDEAS®), which will revolutionize global trade. The WLCD’s comprehensive MDDEAS® solution is offered free of cost to all users. In addition, the MDDEAS® addresses the geopolitical, monopolistic, and data privacy concerns of the big data it collects on global trade transactions by using its innovative Global Structural Formula, a new Sustainable Business Model, and an implementable Global Data Security Standard (GDSS).
